Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Joseph Vu Cong Vien, until now judicial vicar and academic dean of the Major Seminary of the metropolitan archdiocese of Hà Nôi, Viêt Nam, as auxiliary of the same archdiocese, assigning him the titular see of Zama major.
Msgr. Joseph Vu Cong Vien was born on 23 March 1973 in Tan Do, in the archdiocese of Hà Nôi. He studied philosophy and theology at Saint Joseph’s Major Seminary of Hà Nôi and was ordained a priest on 20 December 2007 for the metropolitan archdiocese of Hà Nôi.
After ordination, he first held the role of parish vicar of Binh Cach (2008-2010). He was awarded a licentiate in canon law from Saint Paul’s University in Ottawa, Canada (2010-2014), and went on to serve as parish priest of Nam Dy (2015-2020), parish priest of Ke Set (202-2021), judicial vicar of the metropolitan archdiocese of Hà Nôi (since 2014), and academic dean of Saint Joseph’s Major Seminary of Hà Nôi (since 2021).
