EUROPE/POLAND - “We proclaim Christ. The Church is missionary. Whoever is united to God-Love should bring God to others”: Pastoral Letter from Archbishop of Czestochowa for Advent

Monday, 30 November 2009

Czestochowa (Agenzia Fides) - "Give an authentic testimony of God who is Love" is the main theme of the Pastoral Letter of Archbishop Stanislaw Nowak of Czestochowa, for this Advent. The Archbishop urges his followers to take the Gospel to others and to offer a true testimony of Christian life. "We proclaim Christ. The Church is missionary. Whoever is united to God-Love should bring God to others,” writes Archbishop Nowak. “We must bear witness to faith, hope, and charity to others, even those who do not believe, and all this must be done within the spirit of kindness, of true tolerance, and culture. We must take the Gospel to our families. We must evangelize!"
The Archbishop of Czestochowa also recalls the importance of social charity and solidarity with those most in need: "Being a witness of charity also means participating in social life. The person who does not assist the needy does not love God. There is no love without social solidarity. We must bear witness to mercy. Go with charity towards others, the poor, the unemployed, the hungry, and especially children."
On the occasion of this Year for Priests, Archbishop Nowak has requested special prayers in every parish every Thursday, for priests and people of consecrated life, with the recitation of the Litany of Christ the Eternal High Priest (proposed by the Servant of God John Paul II), the Holy Rosary, and the Chaplet of Divine Mercy.
