Warsaw (Agenzia Fides) - Having evangelization at heart, concrete commitment to missions through collaboration with the Pontifical Mission Societies are the focus of the speeches of the President of the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS), Archbishop Emilio Nappa, during his current visit to Poland and accompanied by the Secretary General of the Pontifical Society for the Propagation of the Faith (POPF), Father Tadeusz Nowak OMI.
Yesterday, Monday, November 20th, at his meeting with the Missionary Commission of the Polish Bishops' Conference at the beginning of the day, the President of the Pontifical Mission Societies emphasized the priority of evangelization, which he also emphasized in his speech at the 396th Plenary Assembly of the Polish Bishops' Conference, in which he took part in the morning.
Archbishop Nappa also referred to some aspects of the reform of the Roman Curia initiated by Pope Francis last year. He mentioned the World Mission Month of October, which has just ended, and emphasized the Pope's desire for the collection on World Mission Sunday. It must be made entirely available to the Pontifical Society for the Propagation of the Faith, which is responsible for supporting all newly founded churches in the areas of initial evangelization, said Archbishop Nappa. The President of the PMS also invoked the principle of transparency, emphasizing the great responsibility that invests all those who manage the funds donated to the missions, and called on each Diocese and each National Direction to account for the use of the funds donated.
Finally, he thanked the bishops for their commitment to promoting the mission and for their collaboration with the Pontifical Mission Societies and encouraged them to continue in the spirit of missionary consciousness, paying special thanks to those who are dedicated to the spread of the Gospel, both in Poland and around the world.
Archbishop Nappa also visited the Jasna Góra National Shrine, where he presided over the Eucharistic celebration and gave an interview to the Jasna Góra radio station, in which he particularly emphasized the importance of human relationships. "We must find a language and a way to reach people today," explained the President of the Pontifical Mission Societies. "To find this way, one must listen to people and their needs. This is the heart of evangelization and "universal Christian brotherhood". Today Archbishop Nappa will meet with professors from the Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw and students from mission areas supported by the Pontifical Society of Saint Peter the Apostle (POSPA), as well as with staff from the National Direction of the Pontifical Mission Societies in Poland.
