Santo Domingo (Agenzia Fides) - “If everyone works together, it is possible to change the lives of the youngest for the better and create a better future for future generations, following the dream of Don Bosco”, is the message of the “Muchachos y Muchachas con Don Bosco” organization of the Salesians of Don Bosco, which is committed to a holistic education for Dominican children.

The organization, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary, is working tirelessly to offer opportunities to the most vulnerable children in Santo Domingo. Through a comprehensive model based on four pillars - research, reception, socialization and accompaniment - it has become a beacon of hope and development for thousands of children and young people.

"Our task is not to replace school, but to recover the joy of childhood," explains Father Ysidro José Ramírez, youth representative of the Salesians of Don Bosco in the Antilles and Director of the network of "Muchachos y Muchachas con Don Bosco" institutions, in a statement sent to Fides. "Seeing children stop being adults at the wrong time of their lives and enjoy their childhood is our greatest reward."

In the 40 years since its foundation, the Salesian organization has offered children and young people a safe and formative space where they have access to education, medical care, food and an environment that promotes their integral development. This anniversary is not only a recognition of the achievements, but also an incentive for all those involved to continue to create the conditions for a sustainable future based on education as an engine of change.
