AFRICA/MADAGASCAR - National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies appointed

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On July 3, 2024, Cardinal Luis Antonio G. Tagle, Pro-Prefect of the Dicastery for Evangelization (Section for First Evangelization and the New Particular Churches), appointed Rev. Father Laurent Pascal Randriamampianina, of the clergy of the diocese of Miarinarivo, as National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies for a five-year term. The new National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies in Madagascar is 56 years old and was ordained a priest in 2000. He completed theological and philosophical studies and obtained a canonical licentiate in philosophy from the Catholic University of Madagascar in Ambatoroka. He was Vicar of the Cathedral Parish in Miarinarivo (2002-2003), Rector of the Propaedeutic Seminary of the Diocese of Miarinarivo (2002-2005), Diocesan Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies in Marinarivo, Director of the Fihavanantsoa Reception and Formation Center in Analavory (2003-2008), Director of the Ramarosandratana Catholic High School in Miarinarivo (2008-2010), Educator and Financial Administrator at the Major Theological Seminary "St. Therese of the Child Jesus" (2010-2018) and Fidei Donum Priest in the Diocese of Meaux (France) with various assignments between 2018 and 2024.
