AFRICA/KENYA - Appointment of Military Ordinary for Kenya

Vatican City (Fides News Agency) - The Holy Father has appointed H.E. Msgr. Wallace Ng'ang'a Gachihi - titular Bishop of Thucca di Mauritania and Auxiliary of Nairobi - as Ordinary of the Military Ordinariate of Kenya.

H.E. Msgr. Wallace Ng'ang'a Gachihi was born on March 26, 1973 in Gatundu (Kiambu district), in the Archdiocese of Nairobi. After attending St. Mary's Major Seminary in Molo, he studied Philosophy at St. Augustine's Senior Seminary in Mabanga, and Theology at St. Matthias Mulumba Senior Seminary in Tindinyo.

He was ordained a priest on May 21, 2005, incardinated in the Archdiocese of Nairobi.

He has held the following positions and carried out the following further studies: Assistant (2005-2006) and Pastor (2006-2009) at Sts. Peter and Paul, Kiambu; Master's in Pastoral Theology at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa-CUEA (2009-2011); Assistant of the Regina Coeli Parish, Karen (2009-2015); Pastor of Christ the King, Embakasi (2015-2024); Coordinator of the Archdiocesan Pastoral (2011-2024); Member of the College of Consultors.

On February 13, 2024 he was elected titular Bishop of Thucca di Mauritania and Auxiliary of Nairobi, and on April 6 he received Episcopal Ordination. (Fides News Agency 15/8/2024)
