Algiers (Fides News Agency) - The prayer of the Rosary is at the heart of the initiatives of preparation launched, among others, in the framework of a Week of World Mission (16 October - 22 October) by the Pontifical Mission Societies in Algeria, not least with a view to World Mission Sunday on 22 October, the day dedicated to prayer and material support for missions throughout the world.
"I call everyone to experience the beauty of praying the Rosary, to contemplate with Mary the mysteries of Christ and to ask her intercession for the needs of the Church and the world," Pope Francis said at the Angelus on Sunday, Oct. 1, recalling that October is Rosary Month and World Missions Month. The link between the rosary and missions also goes back to the founder of the Pontifical Mission Societies, Blessed Paulina Jaricot, who called for the praying of the rosary in support of missions.
Every Monday in October at 5:30 p.m., the National Directorate of Pontifical Mission Societies in Algeria has therefore invited the faithful to participate in the prayer of the Rosary, in the presence or through the ZOOM platform, organized by the different dioceses of the country. The official start of the preparation period took place on October 2 in the Diocese of Algiers. At the end of the month of mission, on Monday, October 30, there will be a virtual meeting in which the national director of the Pontifical Mission Societies in Syria will also participate to report on his work, which seems even more valuable today in light of the dramatic hours in the Middle East.
