VATICAN - Pope Francis remembers Father Richard, killed in Congo on February 2, during his general audience

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - At the end of today's general audience, greeting the religious of the Order of Clerics Regular Minor, the Holy Father Francis said: "I am thinking of your young confrere, Father Richard, from the Democratic Republic of Congo, who was killed last February 2, after celebrating the Mass for the Day of Consecrated Life. May the death of Father Richard, a victim of unjustifiable and despicable violence, not discourage his relatives, his religious family and the entire Christian community of that nation, to announce and witness goodness and fraternity despite the difficulties, by imitating the 'example of Jesus, the Good Shepherd".
Father Richard Masivi Kasereka, Congolese religious of the Order of Clerics Regular Minors ("Caracciolini") was killed by armed men on February 2 in Vusesa, between Kirumba and Mighobwe, in the Lubero Territory (North-Kivu) while returning to his parish, after celebrating the World Day of Consecrated Life, in Kanyaboyonga. Fr. Richard was killed three days before his thirty-fifth birthday, he led the parish of Kaseghe since October 31, 2021 (see Fides, 5/2/2022). (SL) (Agenzia Fides, 16/2/2022)
