Abuja (Agenzia Fides) - At least 32 dead and 80 wounded in a suicide bombing in a petrol station in Yola, capital of Adamawa State, in the north-east of Nigeria. The attack is attributed to Boko Haram, the group responsible for two attacks against two mosques, on October 23, which caused the deaths of at least 42 people and hundreds were injured.
Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari denounced corruption within the Nigerian army that undermined the fight against the jihadist group, after a report of a special commission of inquiry that revealed "several illegal financial and fraudulent transactions". "The revelations of the report are very disturbing when one considers that these wrongdoings occurred while the army that fought against the insurgency in the north-east was in desperate need of equipment and ammunition", said President Buhari.
The Nigerian Bishops have recently expressed their full support to the campaign against corruption undertaken by President Buhari (see Fides 02/09/2015). (L.M.) (Agenzia Fides 18/11/2015)
