Rome (Agenzia Fides) – Giovanni Maria Vian, Director of “L'Osservatore Romano,” in an interview with the newspaper “Corriere della Sera” on the death of Eluana Englaro, emphasized that “this death should serve as a reminder to us all of the need to respect death itself,” as in Eluana's case “it has all been about an ideology.” “Our discretion has also been a non-ideological choice, a silence in search of answers; it was not only about respecting an invitation to silence that nearly no one had respected – not even those who had requested it.” (SL) (Agenzia Fides 10/2/2009)
