Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) – The missionary formation initiatives planned to mark the 110th anniversary of the Pontifical Missionary Union (PMU) continue. These initiatives are part of a broader a program of activities scheduled between 2024 and 2026 in view of the significant anniversaries this year: the 100th anniversary of the establishment of World Mission Sunday, the 110th anniversary of the founding of the Pontifical Missionary Union (PMU), and the 200th anniversary of the inauguration of the "Living Rosary".
An online workshop will be held on Wednesday, March 11, based on a proposal by the National Direction of the Polish Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS), and welcomed by the International Secretariat of the Pontifical Missionary Union (PMU). This represents the second stage (see Fides, 28/10/2025) of a journey that will continue throughout this year with other events on the same theme. The upcoming online workshop will focus specifically on the practical application of various artificial intelligence technologies in missionary animation and formation.
The online meeting is open to all, but is especially aimed at the national and diocesan directors of the Pontifical Mission Societies PMS, the national secretaries of the PMU, and all those involved in the national and diocesan PMS network.
The Secretary General of the Pontifical Mission Societies, Father Dinh Anh Nhue Nguyen, will open the meeting on March 11 at 12:30 (Rome TIME), and his introduction will be followed by a speech by Karol Gnat, TV producer, presenter, and founder of the Polish channel "Odbudowani" (Rebuilt), on the theme "Using artificial intelligence to create simple animations for mission work." A space for discussion and exchange will also be provided at the end of the presentations. The workshop will be held in English with simultaneous translation into French, Spanish, and Italian and will conclude at 2:00 PM (Rome TIME). (EG) (Agenzia Fides, 8/3/2026)
