Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Joseph Đặng Đức Ngân, until now bishop of the diocese of Ðà Nang, Viêt Nam, as coadjutor archbishop of the archdiocese of Huê, Viêt Nam.
Archbishop-elect Joseph Đặng Đức Ngân was born on 16 June 1957 in Hanoi. He attended the major seminary of Hanoi, and subsequently the Pontifical Urbanian University of Rome, where he obtained a doctorate in canon law.
He received priestly ordination on 8 December 1987, and was ordained a bishop on 3 December 2007.
He has held the following offices: parish priest of Thuong Thuy and Co Nhue (1988-1993); professor in the major seminary of Hanoi (1999-2006); secretary to the archbishop (1999-2002); secretary of the Episcopal Conference (2000-2007); episcopal vicar (2001-2003); parish priest of the Cathedral of Hanoi and vicar general (2003-2007); and bishop of Lang Són et Cao Bang (2007-2016).
