Utrecht (Agenzia Fides) - The diocesan directors of the Pontifical Mission Societies in the Netherlands, together with Father Dinh Anh Nhue Nguyen OFM, Secretary General of the Pontifical Missionary Union, addressed the loneliness of Catholics and the difficulties encountered by younger generations in speaking the language of the Church.
"There are no easy answers or solutions", said Father Anh Nhue Nguyen, "I dream of a new missionary movement in Europe, including the Netherlands, where we will start with small groups guided by the Holy Spirit". A mission, therefore, which restarts from its origins and which is as vital as breathing, which is the "essence of everyday life".
"Mission means being sent to evangelize, to proclaim the Gospel - commented the General Secretary of the Pontifical Missionary Union in his contribution on the charism of the Pontifical Mission Societies and their mission in Europe. "Every baptized person has this task that Jesus entrusted to his first disciples. Mission and evangelization are the work of the Holy Spirit, we humans are only the instrument. There is no mission strategy. We have only our hearts to speak to and the fire of the Holy Spirit".
The meeting was also attended by Bishop Van den Hout of Groningen-Leeuwarden in his capacity as Episcopal Commissioner for Mission and Development, the diocesan mission commissioners, the head of the Mission Office of the Diocese of Roermond, the National Director of Missio Netherlands, Father Vincent Goulmy.
