Rome (Agenzia Fides) – On March 22 and 23 Den Dolder, in the Netherlands, will host the first summit of religious leaders on HIV/AIDS, with the objective of promoting greater participation in the global response to the pandemic by religious leaders belonging to different religions the world. Participants will meet to consider the various possibilities with regard to measures to be taken against the HIV virus, as well as those to eliminate the stigma and discrimination against people living with the virus. Religious leaders also have the opportunity to exchange their views with HIV-positive patients and with experts from different fields who work to combat AIDS. Over 60 people, of which 40 are religious leaders, will participate in this meeting organized by the Ecumenical Alliance of World Action (AEAM), a network that includes churches and Christian organizations, and the Dutch Catholic organization Cordaid, which works for international development .
