Warsaw (Agenzia Fides) - The entire Catholic world has begun the synodal journey responding to the invitation of the Holy Father Francis. Following the path of the universal Church, the Pontifical Society of the Holy Childhood (POSI) of Poland is involving the children who are part of it in the preparation of their "Missionary Synod" which will be celebrated in 2022, when POSI celebrates the centenary of its recognition as a "Pontifical" Society, that is, it belongs to the Holy Father. "It will be an occasion to celebrate and rejoice together for this Jubilee. We want children to feel like a community, in communion with the Holy Father and with all the children of the world. We want to convey to him the universality of the Church", explains Sister Monika Juszka, RMI, National Secretary of POSI in Poland to Fides. "The second objective will be to share the presence and missionary activities of children and young people in their dioceses. We want to discover their strengths and try, together, to identify where the POSI presence is lacking and how we can improve".
The Missionary Synod is aimed at children who are members of POSI, who therefore participate in the annual formation of missionary groups and undertake the various missionary initiatives, as well as their animators. Each diocese will be represented by 2, 4 or 6 children and 1, 2 or 3 animators, depending on the number of POSI missionary groups present in the diocese. The delegates will be elected by the diocesan Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) and will be solemnly sent to the Synod by the Director or Bishop of the diocese. We are already in the second year of preparation for the Synod, according to the itinerary indicated by the National Direction of the PMS, which has its logo, hymn and official prayer. In each issue of the magazine Świat Misyjny (The Missionary World) preparations are illustrated and explained.
The Synod will take place on September 17, 2022 on the premises of the Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw. "To underline the universality of the PMS and the bond with the Holy Father - underlines Sister Monika - the Apostolic Nuncio in Poland, Archbishop Salvatore Pennacchio, and Sister Roberta Tremarelli, General Secretary of POSI were invited to the Synod". The day includes several moments: welcome, group work, moments of play, the Holy Mass presided by the Nuncio, to conclude with the Chaplet of Divine Mercy and the solemn sending of the participants. Illustrating the objectives of the Synod of Children, the National Secretary of POSI divides them into two groups: "on the day of the Synod we want to create a common celebration, celebrate together, feel like one community, see how much good the children of POSI do in their dioceses and seek together how we can contribute even better to missionary animation and cooperation. After the Synod, once back in their dioceses, the participants will have the task of informing others about what happened at the Synod and what specific themes were developed to animate the missionary work of children in the diocese. They will do it in collaboration with the diocesan director of the PMS". (SL) (Agenzia Fides, 22/10/2021)
