Lilongwe (Agenzia Fides) - It will be the parish of St. Pius, in the archdiocese of Blantyre, to host the culminating event of the Extraordinary Missionary Month, that is, the Sunday Eucharistic Celebration in which the Church celebrates World Mission Sunday, October 20.
As reported to Fides by the Bishops' Conference of Malawi, already during the opening Mass of the month of the Rosary, presided by Fr. Vincent Mwakhwawa, National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies of Malawi, Fr. George Kaliati, parish priest of St. Pius, invited the faithful to "be protagonists of the mission", with a greater commitment to evangelization works and services. "We are happy and honored to have been chosen as the model parish for this important occasion. The Bishops have entrusted us with this Sunday's Eucharistic celebration", said Fr. Kaliati.
The parish priest of St. Pius invited the faithful to achieve the goals set by Pope Francis for this Month: "Let us focus on the Gospel: with faith let us strengthen our spiritual and family life, let us continue to pray to the Blessed Virgin Mary, entrusting her our life", he insisted. The parish, among other activities, aims to increase charitable works and visits to Catholic faithful but also to non-Catholic families, helping everyone to face the challenges of family and social life.
