Monday, 5 July 2010

Tai Pei (Agenzia Fides) – Half a century ago, a priest from the Diocese of Shanghai launched the first "Eucharistic Camp" according to the style of Eucharistic Movement of Shanghai and obtained an immediate success. Today, the Eucharistic Crusade, the new name of the Movement adopted in 2000, celebrates its 50th anniversary of foundation with the 40th Eucharistic Camp to be held July 24 in the parish of Guan Xi, in the Diocese of Hsin Chu, dedicated to Sacred Heart of Jesus. According to information received by Fides, Bishop John B. Lee will preside over the solemn ceremony of the Jubilee. Registrations for participation will end July 17.
The Eucharistic Camp organized annually by the Eucharistic Crusade is an event for children who have already received their First Communion, with the intention of offering them an environment of faith to facilitate their approaching the altar of the Lord and experiencing the Love of God, so they can establish an intimate relationship with Jesus through the Word of God and the Eucharist. Thus, the children can become disciples of Jesus and evangelize by witnessing to the love of God. According to the spiritual director of the Camp, the stage of primary school is an important period for faith formation. (NZ) (Agenzia Fides 05/07/2010)
