Tai Pei (Agenzia Fides) - "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring (the) good news!" (Rom. 10:15): 120 years ago this phrase of St. Paul marked the establishment of the parish of Shu Zai Jiao, dedicated to St. Joseph, and its activities for evangelization. The parish, which belongs to the Diocese of Cha Yi on the island of Taiwan, today is a vibrant community thanks to the role played by the family, especially in vocational awareness. In fact, 4 priests and 15 religious sisters have come from this parish to serve the local Church in Taiwan. According to information received by Fides, at the solemn celebration of the recent 120th anniversary of life and commitment to evangelization in the parish, local Bishop Thomas Chung presided over the rite of baptism for catechumens and Confirmation for 21 faithful. The Mass was concelebrated by 26 priests and attended by over 1,300 faithful. The songs and dances of the indigenous population marked the festive liturgy. The Legion of Mary, the group of family prayer, the youth group, the Sunday School, the Bible reading group. ... the entire parish contributed to this important anniversary by presenting their commitment to evangelization and pastoral ministry. Bishop Chung called for an abundant harvest of the mission of evangelization for the upcoming 150th anniversary of the parish, calling for an intense commitment of all parishioners to work towards this end starting now.
