Pope Benedict XVI appointed Cardinal Ivan Dias, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples, a member of the Pontifical Council for Social Communications. Other new members appointed by the Pope include Cardinal Antonio María Rouco Varela, Archbishop of Madrid (Spain), and Archbishops Simon-Victor Tonyé Bakot, Archbishop of Yaoundé (Cameroon), and George Hugh Niederauer, Archbishop of San Francisco (United States of America).
