Awali (Agenzia Fides) – "In a world often torn by violence, division, and fear, the Child of Bethlehem reassures us that God draws near even into our brokeness, bringing healing of hope, and reconciliation." This was the message delivered by Bishop Aldo Berardi, O.SS.T., Apostolic Vicar of Northern Arabia, in his Christmas message to the entire community of the Vicariate, which includes Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia.

“In these challenging times, especially in our region, it may feel as though there is no ‘room’ in the world for the weak, the displaced, and the forgotten,” the bishop emphasized. “Yet history teaches us the otherwise: in a humble stable, God made Him dwell among us. That same power is still at work today. God calls us not to despair, but to choose a path of forgiveness, to open our hearts to dialogue, and to recognize every human being, regardless of nationality, faith, or background, as a brother or sister in the journey of life. This is the new way Christ offers us: a way shaped by compassion, reconciliation, and selfgiving love.”

The bishop also highlights the fact that Christmas also reminds us that God enters the ordinary and hidden moments of life. “Just as the Holy Family experienced simplicity and vulnerability in Bethlehem, we are called to encounter Christ in our daily lives: in our families, in our communities, and among those who suffer.”

“In our Vicariate, where people of many nations and cultures gather, Christmas unites us in communion and gratitude,” the Apostolic Vicar concludes. “May our celebration radiate the joy of the Gospel, fostering reconciliation, understanding, and solidarity among all who dwell in the region. Let us carry forward the light of Christ into our workplaces, our neighborhoods, and society, so that the peace of God may touch hearts and heal wounds. Even in the dark and troubled lands, the light of Christ shines, calling us to be signs of hope, peacemakers and builders of communion." (AP) (Agenzia Fides, 24/12/2025)
