Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) – On June 29, 2019 the Holy Father appointed the rev. Indrias Rehmat, of the clergy of Faisalabad, currently Dean of the National Catholic Institute of Theology (N.C.I.T.) in Karachi, as Bishop of the Diocese of Faisalabad (Pakistan).
The newly appointed Bishop was born on 1 July 1966 in Okara, in the diocese of Faisalabad. He entered the Minor Seminary of Faisalabad and in 1992 he completed his studies in Philosophy and Theology at the Christ the King major Seminary in Karachi. He was ordained a priest on 25 September 1992 for the diocese of Faisalabad. In 2000 he obtained a Doctorate in Moral Theology at the Alfonsiana Academy in Rome.
Since his priestly ordination he has carried out the following roles: 1992-1995, parochial Vicar at Chak 424, in Faisalabad; 1995-2000, Studies of moral Theology at the Alfonsiana in Rome; since 2000, teacher of moral theology at the National Catholic Institute of Theology (N.C.I.T.), in Karachi; 2000-2006, Formator at the Major Seminary in Karachi; 2006-2008, Missionary in the diocese of Hyderabad, in Pakistan; 2009-2014, parish priest of the Sacred Heart parish in Karachi; since 2014, Dean of the National Catholic Institute of Theology in Karachi (N.C.I.T.).
