Bissau (Agenzia Fides) - "Revenge does not solve problems, but rather becomes a fertilizer for problems. Christians should avoid the path of revenge and scandal, especially those who are engaged in politics", says the Auxiliary Bishop of Bissau, Mgr. Lampra Cá, addressing more than 3,000 young people from the diocese of Bissau. The young people gathered in Mansoa, in the north of the Country about 60 km from the capital Bissau, for the 13th Diocesan Day of Catholic Youth of Guinea-Bissau, which took place from 24 to 26 May with the theme "Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word" (Lk 1:38), chosen by Pope Francis for the last World Catholic Youth Day held in Panama.
During the concluding Holy Mass, the Bishop in the homily launched an appeal to those present to follow Mary's example of humility, recalling that "the Christian religion exalts humility".
During the three days catechesis, a peace march and awareness-raising meetings were held, on the danger of drugs, widespread among young people.
On the same days about a thousand young people gathered in the Diocese of Bafatá, in Buba, in the south of Guinea-Bissau. The Vicar General, Father Domingos da Fonseca, reprimanded young people on their responsibilities in the process of stabilization, development and change of mentality in the country: "you have enormous responsibilities in your life, in your home, in your school, in your work, in public administration, in various apostolic movements, and in politics; you have the responsibility to help change the mentality and development of Guinea Bissau".
