AFRICA/NIGERIA - Two priests kidnapped in the Delta State have been released

Abuja (Agenzia Fides) - Two Catholic priests, Fr. Franklyn Odiaka and Fr. Moses Nwaonwochei, who had been kidnapped on December 18 in Obior, in Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State, southern Nigeria have been released. According to reports sent to Agenzia Fides, the two priests were released yesterday, December 21, but at the moment there are no further details about the circumstances of their release or if the ransom demanded by the kidnappers was paid.
The two priests were kidnapped while returning from a ceremony in honor of Mgr. Michael Odogwu Elue, Bishop of Issele-Uku. Fr. Odiaka is a pastor of the Church of the Assumption in Asaba. His parishioners had organized special prayers also via sms to demand his release. (L.M.) (Agenzia Fides 22/12/2015)
