Bangui (Agenzia Fides) - "We were only threatened verbally, but the fact that we were kidnapped, as reported by some media, is not true", says to Agenzia Fides His Exc. Mgr. Dieudonné Nzapalainga, Archbishop of Bangui, capital of the Central African Republic. On October 26, Mgr. Nzapalainga, along with a Vatican delegation, went to the Central Mosque near Km5, for a visit in preparation for Pope Francis’ visit in the Country on 29 and 30 November. During the visit some people threatened the delegation led by the Archbishop. "Only a group of young people threatened us - said Mgr. Nzapalainga to Fides - The Imam and the rest of those present condemned the incident, apologizing for what happened. I made a statement in which I said that those who threatened us are my children and as a father I must forgive them". "Unfortunately, this incident blew out of proportion and several incorrect things were written" remarks the Archbishop. "However, several people of Muslim faith called me to express closeness, stressing that everyone is waiting for the Holy Father’s visit", concluded Mgr. Nzapalainga. (L.M.)
