Friday, 11 December 2015 refugees

Kinshasa (Agenzia Fides) - The Apostolic Nuncio in Kinshasa, His Exc. Mgr. Luis Mariano Montemayor, called on Central African refugees welcomed in Zongo, on the border between the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Central African Republic, to reconciliation, to peace, Justice and mercy, during a Mass concelebrated with His Exc. Mgr. Dominique Bulamatari, Bishop of Molegbe, and His Exc. Mgr. Dieudonné Nzapalainga, Archbishop of Bangui, in the parish of St. Francis of Assisi in Libenge. The parish is part of the Diocese of Molegbe, between the provinces of North and South Ubangi.
Archbishop Montemayor reminded the refugees the message that Pope Francis wanted to convey to all Central Africans during his recent visit to Bangui, and stressed that the war in Central Africa is not a religious conflict, but a clash of different political and economic interests and power-seeking. Mgr. Montemayor was warmly received by the local authorities, by the Imam of Bangui, by Protestant ministers and a large crowd. (L.M.) (Agenzia Fides 11/12/2015)
