Istanbul (Agenzia Fides) – As from this year, more than two hundred Armenian students who attend schools in Istanbul linked to the Armenian community will have to take a "religious culture and moral knowledge" exam to go to secondary schools, with programs and questions set out under the control of the Ministry of National Education. According to Turkish sources, consulted by Agenzia Fides, the regulation represents a new school itinerary of Armenian students; Armenian students who attend other private schools, such as those who attend the schools linked to the Greek community are exempted from courses and examination.
Meanwhile, the Turkish union leader Nahsan Aydin, representative of a teachers' union, said that schools with mixed classes, attended by male and female, are "against nature" and penalize students from an academic advancement point of view. (GV) (Agenzia Fides 18/11/2015)
