Buenos Aires (Agenzia Fides) - The Bishop of Gualeguaychú and President of the Episcopal Commission for Social Ministry, His Exc. Mgr. Jorge Lozano, presented a summary of the topics discussed during the 110th Plenary Assembly of the Episcopal Conference of Argentina (CEA), which took place last week near Buenos Aires (see Fides 09/11/2015).
The Bishops, reports the note sent to Fides, dedicated sessions to know the extent of the changes in the canonical process of matrimonial nullity, the formation of future priests, and the organization of the National Eucharistic Congress 2016 to be held in Tucuman and to listen to the experiences of the Bishops who participated in the recent Synod of Bishops on the family.
The Bishops' Conference also considered the urgent need to deepen the study of environmental problems in the light of the Encyclical "Laudato Sì". In this regard, Mgr. Jorge Lozano said it was "urgent to discern ways to grow in the study of environmental issues, in particular the care and use of water".
The Bishop, who met with the local press on Sunday evening, November 15, also commented on the debate between Daniel Scioli and Mauricio Macri, the two candidates for the presidential ballot. "They should be attentive to people's concerns and clearly state what public policies they want to propose to fight inflation, poverty, drug trafficking and child malnutrition", said Mgr. Lozano.
