Buenos Aires (Agenzia Fides) - The 110th Plenary Assembly of the Argentinean Bishops' Conference, which brings together more than one hundred Bishops of this country, opened yesterday, with a Eucharistic Celebration. The celebration was held on Sunday, November 8th in Lujan, and also represented the culmination of the Year of consecrated life for the Church in Argentina. On this occasion a text of Cardinal Eduardo Pironio (who was Prefect of the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life) was distributed entitled "La comunidad religious ¿signo de esperanza de la cruz?" written in 1985.
According to information sent to Fides, the Assembly will take place until November 13 and will discuss issues related to the Argentine society and the commitments of the Catholic Church: formation in seminars, the organization of the XI National Eucharistic Congress, the pastoral applications of the conclusions of the recent Synod on the Family and the activities planned for the Holy Year of Mercy are reported.
