Khartoum (Agenzia Fides) - The Ministry of Health of Sudan has acknowledged deaths caused by the spread of haemorrhagic fever in Darfur, especially in the east and central States. Medical sources in Khartoum reported to Radio Dabanga that medical teams have been set up to identify and do research on the cases of the deadly fever. The first surveys were carried out in all the districts of the eastern capital of Darfur taking samples from suspected cases. The population has been warned of an impending rapid spread of the disease across the region. The spread of epidemic hemorrhagic fever has reached critical levels and health authorities in the states of Darfur do not have the drugs to fight the disease. Recently, the Coordinator of the camps of central Darfur had reported that about 40 camp residents in the town of Zalingei had been infected with viral fever, 16 of them died. The population of Ed Daein took to the streets to protest against the lack of security measures. (AP) (Agenzia Fides 28/10/2015)
