Tuesday, 27 October 2015 area crisis

Beirut (Agenzia Fides) - “Regarding the presidential crisis in Lebanon, but who said the president of Lebanon should be Maronite? The important thing is that the president is Lebanese and is concerned for our country’s poor people”. This was said by Greek Orthodox Metropolitan of Monte Lebanon, Georges Khodr, known all over the world as a master of Christian spirituality, who was speaking about the political paralysis which since May 2014 has prevented the identification of a new Head of State for Lebanon, due to cross-check vetoes by the different political groups. The challenging consideration by the Greek Orthodox Metropolitan is taken from an interview published in Lebanon’s al-Safir daily. The Archbishop, in his nineties, expresses illuminated judgements regarding the condition of Christians in the Middle East, emphasizing that " The dangers threatening Christians in the Middle East threaten all the inhabitants of this region without exception ", and that “according to Christian principle, there is no such thing as what might be called holy jihad.” (GV) (Agenzia Fides 27/10/2015)
