AMERICA/BRAZIL - "Scalabrinian Mission": opening of a new reception center for refugees in Sao Paulo

Sao Paulo (Agenzia Fides) - A new reception center for refugees sponsored by the Missionary Scalabrinian Sisters (Congregation of the Missionary Sisters of St. Charles Borromeo) will open on October 25 in Sao Paulo.
The establishment of the center was published in the Official Journal of São Paulo and it is the second in the city. It will be called "Scalabrinian Mission" and will be established in the ancient St. Therese College, in the district of Pari, next to the building where there is already Cesprom, a day care center for Latino immigrants and Senegalese. According to information sent to Agenzia Fides, the center has a capacity of 225 seats, 75 for the day and 150 for the night, and provides service 24 hours a day. The center has a team of 30 people to offer hospitality, accommodation and food, listen, guide for the access to personal documents, admission to projects and training programs and preparation for the world of work, exercise of citizenship, coordination.
The team of Missionary Scalabrinian Sisters that coordinate this project consists of four religious. "The scalabrinian tent widens - explained Sister Neusa de Fátima Mariano, Superior General of the Scalabrinians - and we are opening this center in one of the most populated areas of migrants in Latin America. Doors will open on October 25, the date of the celebration of the 120th anniversary of the founding of our Congregation and in the first year of the beatification of Mother Assunta, our Co-founder".
