AFRICA/SUDAN - Food Poisoning for children in a refugee camp in North Darfur

Nyala (Agenzia Fides) - Food poisoning has affected 81 children in two primary schools in the refugee camp in Zamzam, North Darfur. Forty-four were taken to hospital in El Fasher for treatment, while others were taken to mobile clinics in the camp. According to the statement of an activist to Radio Dabanga, all the children were discharged but two remained in hospital for further treatment. The source also reported that 25 students were poisoned after eating the breakfast that a woman was selling in front of the school. With regard to the security measures to be taken to prevent this type of incident, any person selling food should follow health standards and security. (AP) (Agenzia Fides 21/10/2015)
