Faisalabad (Agenzia Fides) - "Every Pakistani citizen has a responsibility and a key role in building peace in Pakistan": said His Exc. Bishop Joseph Arshad, Bishop of Faisalabad, speaking at a recent seminar dedicated to topics such as human rights, education and formation, organized by the "Justice and Peace" Commission of the diocese of Faisalabad.

The Bishop remarked that "political leaders and religious leaders can give a significant contribution to the peace and prosperity of the nation". According to Fr. Nisar Barkat, director of the "Justice and Peace" Commission of the diocese, "the message of peace must be preached with power from the pulpits of mosques, churches and temples, in squares and in political rooms". The Assembly recalled how many Christians, Muslims, and people of other religions sacrificed their lives for their country, in war or in the fight against terrorism.
All agreed that "it is urgent to change our behavior and overcome violence in order to make a non-violent and prosperous society". "Promoting peace is a duty, and access to justice is a right that go together", he concluded. (PA) (Agenzia Fides 14/10/2015)
