Aparecida (Agenzia Fides) – On October 12 during the celebration in honor of Our Lady of Aparecida, the Auxiliary Bishop of the Diocese of Aparecida, His Exc. Mgr. Darci José Nicioli C.SS.R., asked for political affairs to be exercised more seriously. "It is said that Brazil is in crisis, and it is true. Political and economic financial crisis. Great moral crisis, a crisis of values is at the root of this crisis" stressed the Bishop.
For Mgr. Nicioli the country "would be a paradise" if it followed the model of management of the National Shrine of Aparecida, as explained in the note sent to Fides: "donations received at the Shrine are entirely used to accommodate and assist those most in need. "The richness of Brazil should be better distributed" said the Bishop, who added: "We do not lack in money, we lack in the seriousness in the use of money".
About 160,000 people arrived in the valley of Paraiba, to celebrate the feast of the Patron saint of Brazil at the Shrine of Aparecida.
Our Lady of Aparecida, or Our Lady of the Conception of Aparecida, is the Patron saint of Brazil, whose feast falls on 12 October. The Sanctuary is located in Aparecida, in the State of Sao Paulo.
The basilica is the largest Marian shrine in the world and is able to hold up to 45,000 people and is the fourth most visited shrine in the world. (CE) (Agenzia Fides 14/10/2015)
