AFRICA/BURKINA FASO - "We are all called to work for reconciliation" says Cardinal Ouédraogo after the failed coup

Monday, 5 October 2015 area crisis

Ouagadougou (Agenzia Fides) - "A new situation requires new tasks" said Cardinal Philippe Ouédraogo, Archbishop of Ouagadougou, during the Mass he celebrated on Sunday, October 4 at the Marian Shrine of "Notre Dame de Yagma". Burkina Faso has just come out from the crisis over the attempted military coup of the former presidential guard (see Fides 02/10/2015).
Cardinal Ouedraogo urged everyone to work for the building of peace, justice and reconciliation, a task that not only belongs to religious, political and traditional authorities, but to the entire population of Burkina Faso. "We have to continue our task of reconciliation, justice and peace with courage and hope", the Cardinal said.
After recalling the Jubilee of Mercy proclaimed by Pope Francis, the Cardinal asked the Lord "to continue to inspire us. We can really be reconciled in justice, for a true and lasting peace", he concluded. (L.M.) (Agenzia Fides 05/10/2015)
