Juba (Agenzia Fides) - Data from South Sudan, the third Country in sub-Saharan Africa with the highest number of oil reserves, are shocking. There is talk of a million and a half displaced persons, widows and orphans, and the number is constantly increasing. More than 100,000 people have sought refuge in various UN structures throughout the Country. In Juba, 80% of the displaced are women, boys and girls. More than 500,000 have fled to neighboring Countries. Many have had to cross the Nile to reach Uganda, leaving all their belongings and seriously endangering their lives. In Baryar camp, in Wau, most of the women are widows, and take care of everything: from morning to night they go to fetch water, look for herbs, reeds, branches to be sold in markets, 10 km away, and buy something with what they manage to earn, they take care of their children and the house.
