Wednesday, 10 June 2015

Beirut (Agenzia Fides) - From 12 to 16 June, a series of liturgical celebrations and moments of Marian devotion will be held in various locations in Lebanon on the occasion of the second anniversary of the consecration of the Lebanese nation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. In those days, also the statue of the Portuguese Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima will be present in the Country of the Cedars, which will be exhibited on several occasions to the devotion of the faithful. Already on Friday, June 12, at the seat of the Maronite Patriarchate in Bkerke, a Marian meditation will be held by the Syrian Catholic Patriarch Ignace Youssef III, while Maronite Patriarch Boutros Bechara Rai will celebrate Mass. Then the statue of Our Lady of Fatima will be transferred to the Carmel of Harissa. In the following days there will be Masses, recitation of the Rosary and Marian celebrations with songs in several churches and sanctuaries in the Country. In Lebanon, in 2010, the Solemnity of the Annunciation of Mary was proclaimed a national holiday, with the declared intention of finding in the devotion to Mary - also shared among Muslims - a point of convergence among the different religious communities.
