AFRICA/ETHIOPIA - A primary school for children in Hosanna

Wednesday, 11 March 2015

Addis Ababa (Agenzia Fides) - In Hosanna, 250 km south-east of Addis Ababa, about 70 thousand people live, mainly very poor families, who do not have sufficient resources to ensure education to their children. The precarious roads in the area, virtually non-existent, make it even more difficult for children to go to school every day. Moreover many of them have other duties to carry out, such as to collect the water, take care of the cattle.
The Capuchin missionaries already have a pre-school center. Families have asked the Capuchins to build a primary school that could potentially expand to a secondary school. The implementation of the project is supported by the Spanish radio station Cadena 100 together with the Catholic NGO Manos Unidas. (AP) (Agenzia Fides 11/03/2015)
