Cairo (Agenzia Fides) - Thanks to the cooperation between the security forces and the elders of the village of Dahshur (in Giza in Egypt), 16 Coptic families have returned to their homes, they were forced to leave the village because of violent interfaith clashes at the end of July, which occurred because of a trivial dispute.
The quarrel happened after a young Muslim accused the Christian owner of a laundry of having burned a shirt in ironing it. The dispute had spread to family members and acquaintances of the two men, degenerating into an inter-communal conflict, whose toll is a victim, 16 wounded and two houses in flames. Because of the violence and tensions 20 expanded Coptic families, made up of 120 smaller families were forced to leave Dahshur.
President Mohamed Morsy had ordered the governor of Giza, Ali Abdel Rahman to form a committee to face the incident, made up of 10 Muslims and 10 Christians. (L.M.) (Agenzia Fides 09/08/2012)
