ASIA/CHINA - Tropical Storm Talim causes severe flooding in the coastal provinces of the country

Fuzhou/Haikou (Agenzia Fides) - The province of northeastern China's Harbin is facing serious flooding due to the tropical storm Talim that brought heavy rains. This is the fifth storm of the year and is the eastern and southern areas of the country are in a state of alert. The tropical storm and previous depression caused heavy rains in various parts of Fujian, to the continental area of the Taiwan Strait. A total of 24 districts have had water up to 50 millimeters, another ten between 50 and 100 millimeters. According to the provincial center for prevention and control of floods, the water has reached a meter in height, car traffic has been submerged and between moderate and heavy rainfall in the city of Zhangzhou, Xiamen, Longyan, Sanming, Nanping y Quanzhou are expected.
