Wednesday, 9 May 2012

Tai Pei (Agenzia Fides) - The Women's Choir of the new immigrants of the Good Shepherd Social Welfare Foundation of Taiwan, will perform on Sunday, May 13, on the occasion of Mother's Day and International Day of the family, to express feelings of gratitude on behalf of the young immigrants to the island of Taiwan, the Catholic Church and to all those who have welcomed them and helped them integrate into society. Furthermore, they will even sing to highlight the strong feelings that bind them forever to their families of origin. According to a report in the Catholic Weekly of the Archdiocese of Tai Pei, the concert was organized by the Good Shepherd Social Welfare-Foundation in collaboration with the Group of family of the Office of Evangelization of the Archdiocese of Tai Pei.
In 1987, since the crime related to child prostitution and trafficking of children was so widespread in Taiwan, the Archdiocese of Tai Pei invited the Sisters of the Good Shepherd RGS, founded in 1835 in France, to carry out their pastoral service to address the situation which had become dramatic. In 1997 the Catholic Foundation of the Good Shepherd, which had already been working for years in service to women, children, families and immigrants, was officially recognized and registered. So cooking and tailoring courses began, as well as a driving school to help these women to integrate in the working and social field as soon as possible. In 2005 the Chorus of new immigrant women was born, to help young women to feel welcomed and loved in Taiwan. (NZ) (Agenzia Fides 09/05/2012)
