ASIA/CHINA - More than 8 thousand faithful to the Shrine of Our Lady of She Shan for the opening of the Marian month of the diocese of Shang Hai

Shang Hai (Agenzia Fides) - More than 8 thousand faithful attended the opening of the Marian month of the diocese of Shang Hai, which was held at the Shrine of Our Lady of She Shan, indicated by the Holy Father Benedict XVI in his letter to Chinese Catholics on May 27, 2007 as a landmark for World Day of Prayer for the Church in China, established by him every year on May 24. According to information gathered by Fides, the celebration that marked the solemn opening of the Marian month, was held on May 1, led by the 90-year-old Bishop of Shang Hai, His Exc Mgr. Alios Jin Lu Xian, who presided the solemn Marian procession, praying the rosary and Mass was concelebrated by 15 priests, after which all together prayed to Our Lady of She Shan written by Pope Benedict VI. The previous day, in the square of the Shrine of She Shan, the opening of the month dedicated to Our Lady took place.
In the deanery of Pu Dong in the diocese of Shang Hai, which includes the most industrialized part of the area, more than two thousand faithful attended the opening of the Marian month on May 2, in the parish of Our Lady of Lourdes. During the month, every Saturday there will be a solemn Marian procession.
On the diocesan site the program with times, information concerning the Masses and other celebrations were published, in order to help direct the faithful to the Shrine of She Shan to live well, from a spiritual point of view, their Marian pilgrimage. (NZ) (Agenzia Fides 08/05/2012)
