Cochabamba (Agenzia Fides) - Cardinal Julio Terrazas Sandoval, Archbishop of Santa Cruz de la Sierra, President of the Episcopal Conference of Bolivia, on Sunday, April 22 presided at a solemn Eucharistic celebration, attended by several Bishops of the country, on the occasion of the third anniversary since the beginning of the Permanent Mission in Bolivia. According to the note sent by the Episcopal Conference to Fides, during the celebration, which took place in the Cathedral of St. Sebastian in Cochabamba, the Cardinal urged all the people of God to always keep in mind the starting point, which is the Mission, with the initial enthusiasm and commitment. The note highlights the presence of a large part of the Bolivian Bishops, who these days are gathered for a meeting in plenary session in Cochabamba.
"The Holy Father reminds us that the challenge for Latin America and the Caribbean is the permanent Mission, the mission to which we devote soul, heart and life as believers, to ensure that this message of the Risen Christ may reach all peoples, in all corners of our country," said Cardinal Terrazas. He then explained that the basis that fuel this process are enthusiasm and commitment in order not to distort the figure of the Risen and Living God, because today there are many who want to demonstrate that it is only the figure of a dead man.
Cardinal Terrazas noted that all actions of the Church in Bolivia should be based on the Mission, and emphasized the need to form true missionaries, enthusiastic servants of faith, who are able to address the people on the path of the true and authentic encounter with christ. "Any missionary activity must be conducted with the knowledge that our work is not something to fill certain programs, our mission is not limited to a small show in our town, our mission should lead us to have courage in life," concluded the Cardinal.
