ASIA/TAIWAN - The Catholic community in Taiwan prepares for the World Day of Vocations

Tai Pei (Agenzia Fides) - The Catholic community in Taiwan is preparing for the 49th World Day of Prayer for Vocations, to be held in the universal Church next Sunday, April 29, known as "Good Shepherd Sunday" from the Gospel, where Jesus presents himself as the Good Shepherd. According to information gathered by Fides, the various dioceses of the island are mobilizing following the Holy Father's instructions contained in the annual message and this year’s theme is "Vocations, a gift of God’s love" (Deus Caritas est, n.17).
The archdiocese of Tai Pei invites all the boys and girls of the Association of Middle School Students, of the Secondary and Catholic University Students to attend a meeting of prayer for vocations to be held on Saturday afternoon, April 28, at the Cathedral of the diocese. The theme chosen for the occasion, "You did not choose me, but I chose you" (Jn 15, 16).
Even the diocese of Hua Lian has organized a meeting for the World Day of Vocations for Saturday, April 28. According to the blog of the Association of Social Communication, all the priests and laity are invited to participate in this initiative to "promote education and diocesan communion, becoming angels of evangelization"; to "improve the physical and moral health of the faithful"; to "promote exchange among the faithful"; to "increase the knowledge of faith and Love of God and the Church." In addition to prayer, the solemn Eucharistic celebration and blessing, the day's program also includes an entertainment and sports events on the theme of vocation. (NZ) (Agenzia Fides 24/4/2012)
