ASIA/TAIWAN - Confucians, Taoists and Buddhists participate in activities sponsored by the PMS in Taiwan

Tuesday, 17 April 2012

Taipei (Agenzia Fides) – Within the context regarding the weekend of spirituality and formation of the parish missionary animators, which this year took place in January in the Diocese of HsinChu and was attended by about eighty people, Father Felice Chech, a Camillian (M.I.), National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies in Taiwan, promoted the drafting of the Via Lucis, explaining its meaning. The document was finalized in early April and sent to all parishes in Taiwan. Over the weekend of formation Fr. Felice presented the identity of the four founders of the Missionary Societies, while Robert Marinaccio, an Italian lay missionary of the Archdiocese of Gaeta, encouraged the reflection concerning the role of the parish missionary animator. "The weekend proved to be a valuable opportunity to compare the problems inherent in the parish and diocesan missionary animation – says to Fides Fr. Felice- as well as being a useful opportunity to exchange ideas on what may be the future pastoral activities."
Emphasizing the main activities conducted by the National Missionary Office in the first half of the Pastoral Year 2011-2012, Fr. Felice Chech first of all recalls the preparation of the Vigil of Prayer in missionary October, which this year took place in all seven dioceses in Taiwan, but particularly in those of Taipei and KauShiung. "The preparation of the Vigil - said the national Director of the PMS - was attended by many parish missionary animators, along with many people belonging to the traditional religions (Confucian, Taoist, Buddhist) who, for friendship and spiritual interest, are constantly involved in some activities promoted by Catholics." In March, the dinner in favor of Missionary Childhood was held, which was attended by five hundred people, one third were Catholics, while others were Taoists, Buddhists and Confucians who care about supporting works promoted by the Holy Childhood.
