ASIA/TAIWAN - The diocese of Chia Yi begins the journey for the Year of Faith with the Eucharistic Adoration

Chia Yi (Agenzia Fides) - The Diocese of Chia Yi began the journey for the Year of the Faith proclaimed by Pope Benedict XVI, with prolonged Eucharistic adoration. As reported by the Catholic Weekly of the Archdiocese of Taipei, the solemn Mass was held on February 25 at the Cathedral of the Diocese, dedicated to St. John, with a large participation of priests, men nad women religious and the laity. Since then the Eucharistic Adoration hass started in turn in various parishes, which will continue until the end of the year. Mgr. Thomas Chung, diocesan Bishop, presided at the celebration, during which he urged the faithful to cultivate a greater Eucharist devotion, especially during the Year of Faith, so that "the people can draw from the Eucharist the necessary strength to achieve the union between man and God."
According to the Catholic Church Directory Taiwan 2010, the diocese of Chia Yi has 11,701 faithful with a Bishop, 51 priests, 54 women religious, 3 catechists, 31 parishes and 34 mission stations. (NZ) (Agenzia Fides 15/3/2012)
