Thursday, 16 February 2012

Rome (Agenzia Fides) - The Jesuit Father General, Fr. Adolfo Nicolas has recently approved the Strategic Framework 2012-2015 of the Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS). The Plan is the result of an extensive consultation among regional directors, administrative board members and staff of the International Office. According to information sent to Fides from the General Curia of the Jesuits, the document offers a series of inspiring and exciting strategies for all ten regions of the JRS which will be used to develop their strategic regional plans and those for the annual action. Originating from the mission to accompany, serve and defend the rights of refugees and forcibly displaced persons, the Plan emphasizes the identity of the JRS as an organization and work of the Catholic Society of Jesus. Inspired by deep values, the JRS has decided to pursue in the next four years the following objectives: 1. Compassion for those on the margins of society, 2. Rooted in faith and active in justice; 3.To give hope through education; 4. A stronger and united JRS, which is based on the values of subsidiarity and participation. In the preface the Father General has defined the Strategic Plan document creative, stimulating and challenging and that it will require dedication and considerable risk. He also expressed his joy because in this document "full of Christian fervor and Ignatian vision ... we see faith, justice and collaboration joined together again in one unified vision".
