Monday, 6 February 2012

Juba (Agenzia Fides) - "The Catholic University of Southern Sudan is in its fourth year and has more than 500 students. May 12th is the date where the first students will graduate " informs Fr. Mike Schultheis, SJ. In Juba about 400 students studying in the Faculty of Fine Arts and Social Sciences; in Wau, 350 miles north-west, another 120 students are enrolled at the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. Despite the tension and clashes, especially in areas on the border between Sudan and South Sudan, while governments in Khartoum and Juba accuse each other of supporting rebels operating in their territories, "the child is born and continues to grow, even if its steps often seem uncertain and shaky " said Fr. Schultheis, in a joint statement sent to Fides by the General Curia of the Jesuits. (SL) (Agenzia Fides 06/06/2012)
