Tuesday, 31 January 2012

Tai Pei (Agenzia Fides) - Twenty years ago, Sister Teresa Li, of the Congregation of the Daughters of Jesus, began the apostolate on the university campus in Taiwan with a dream to be fulfilled: "Young people help young people to know Christ". According to reports from the Catholic Weekly, the weekly newsletter of the Archdiocese of Tai Pei, after two decades of mission, forty pastoral operators of the campus found themselves together with Sister Teresa to remember the past path and to improve their commitment to accompany young people in the life of faith, as Pope Benedict XVI teaches. His Exc. Mgr. Thomas Chung, Bishop of the Diocese of Chia Yi and responsible for the Youth Section of the Commission for the evangelization of the Regional Episcopal Conference of Taiwan, had words of praise for the mission carried out in these twenty years, which he described as a fulfillment of the Epiphany, "a virtual Epiphany": "through a relay evangelization, now these groups of apostolate on campuses are widespread in 13 universities and accompany every year over 700 young people, throwing so many seeds of faith". The Bishop thanked the volunteers for their pastoral service and Sister Teresa Li expressed the desire that there are more young people willing to speak about Jesus to their peers.
