ASIA/TAIWAN - To evangelize the indigenous through TV: a program on the Christian faith

Tai Pei (Agenzia Fides) - The evangelization of the indigenous communities in Taiwan goes through television: as of next February, a program on the Christian faith, promoted by the "Voice of the Catholic Church Association, "the agency for Social Communications of the Regional Episcopal Conference of Taiwan will be broadcast on the Indigenous television channel in Taiwan. According to reports by the Catholic Weekly, the weekly bulletin of the Archdiocese of Tai Pei, the program provides a dialogue between two people, on issues and questions concerning the Christian faith, and was produced, thanks to more than 2,000 donors by the publishing house of the Jesuits "Kuangchi ". The program, lasting one hour, will be broadcast every Thursday for 20 weeks.
In response to the Pope’s invitation, the Church's need to be present in the arena of mass media, the Voice of the Catholic Church Association is working to create their own television station in Taiwan, as already done by other religious communities (Protestants and Buddhists).
Voice of the Catholic Church Association was born in March 1986 in the parish of the Holy Family of Tai Pei. Since May 22, 1998 it is officially the agency for Social Communications of the Regional Episcopal Conference of Taiwan, and is officially registered at the Ministry of the Interior. After 26 years of service in the field of social communications, it has put into action 7 radio that broadcast programs of evangelization in Chinese and in other local languages of the island of Taiwan.
